Our fundraising continued in 2016. We had our usual car washing every Saturday in May even though the weather was not always on our side we were well supported.
Our third annual fun day started in a shower of rain however the sun came out and residents and the local community were entertained by Jim Brown (The King) who thrilled everyone with hits by Elvis. We were also entertained by Barneys Startrax Disco and No Limits a two piece band who brought the Fun Day to a close. We had craft stalls, animals, childrens games, a local NIFRS crew and engine and face painting. Not to forget the must at every fun day, the three bouncy castles. We had a wonderful afternoons family fun.
This was very well supported by families of residents and staff, without this support we could not have had the great success of raising £3173.27.
The fun day took place on Saturday 11th June 12 noon till 4pm.
Snow Patrol also very generously donated a NI Football shirt with their logo on it in time for the World Cup. This was auction off and the winning bid was £ 215.00. We are very grateful to them and the highest bidder. They also gave us a few other bits and pieces to use for fundraising.
Our popular Christmas Lights Switch On took place on 1st December this year, with approximately 1000 people attending and children from local primary schools took part in our Draw a Christmas Tree competition, with the winners switching on the lights. Thank you to all who attended and we raised almost £400.
Staff also carried out bag packing at Tesco Castlereagh Road on 13th December. A big thank you goes to the staff and customers of Tesco who helped us raise almost £800.
Other funds raised came from donations, our own in house lottery bonus ball draw every week, the big coke bottle and selling the very famous Towell House shortbread.
All monies raised will go towards our new up and coming Sensory garden.
Thank you again to anyone who played a part in our fundraising efforts.
